The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce received the five-star accreditation award for its positive effect for local businesses.

Out of seven thousand chambers in the United States, only 127 are given this award. Chairman Abel Castro said this is the Chamber's third time receiving the prestigious award.

"It's not something that happens by... just you know, by happenstance,"Castro said. "It takes a lot of hard work, and there are nine categories and we had a perfect score in six of the nine categories"

The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce represents nearly 1,700 businesses and over 79,000 employees.

"Each day, our Chamber works hard to put the American dream within reach of hardworking Lubbock business owners," Eddie McBride, Chamber CEO, said. "The U.S. Chamber Accreditation designation tells chamber members and the Lubbock business community that we have effective programs, sound finances and we are strong advocates for their interests,"
