SeniorCare teaches Lubbock seniors the benefits of using Facebook
Thursday, October 3rd 2019, 7:59 PM CDT

SeniorCare is a branch of Covenant Health that promotes better, healthy aging.
Part of the program involves socialization. Thursday the program hosted a social media class for seniors to learn how to use Facebook.
While the number of seniors on Facebook is split 50/50, a majority of them are skeptical of the platform for online safety reasons. Senior Care Manager Lauren Orta said they just need someone to teach them of its benefits.
"Many of them have kids, grandkids on Facebook and what cool way for them to be keep in contact with them, see what they're doing. It's a connection that they may not have had before, especially if their family's far away," she said.
The program's free for anyone age 60 or older to join.
