Mayor Pope announces he will seek re-election

Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope announced Thursday he will see re-election in the May 2020 Election.
No other candidates have yet announced plans to run for the position.
He says his priorities in office have focused on public safety, promoting positive aspects of life in Lubbock and strengthening leadership in day-to-day City Hall operations.
Mayor Pope has served on the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, United Way Board and Campaigns, First United Methodist Church and the Covenant Health System Board of Trustees. He also served as a member of the Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees for nine years and served as president of the Board.
He was first elected mayor in May 2016.
