Ladies, you can help raise money to fight cancer, by playing golf. The American Cancer Society is hosting "Tee'd Off At Cancer" later this month.

One in three women will have cancer during her lifetime, which includes breast, cervical and endometrial cancers.

"It primarily helps with fundraising for the American Cancer Society," said Kathleen Burrell with the American Cancer Society. She said the money is reinvested in the agency's mission, "to fund cancer research, to provide patients services such as our Hope Lodge here in Lubbock, as well as other patient programs."

The inaugural women's golf event is Monday, Sept. 30 at Lakeridge Country Club. Check-in is at 8 a.m., tee-off at 9.

Women golfers of all levels are welcome. Team entry is $375 for a foursome. The tournament includes lunch, a raffle, a swag bag and awards. Raffle items include a purse, a tote, wine, earrings, a signed Texas Tech men's basketball and tickets to a Tech men's basketball game.

More information can be found at the tournament's website or e-mail Kathleen Burrell at kathleen.burrell@cancer.org or call the American Cancer Society office at 806.745.0767.
