American Red Cross helped install 125 smoke alarms in more than 50 Lubbock homes
Dozens of homes are safer thanks to the American Red Cross.
The Lubbock Chapter partnered with Lubbock Fire Rescue and Atmos Energy to install smoke alarms. They also provided fire safety tips in more than 50 Lubbock homes to reduce death and injuries caused by fires.
"There are two things I want everyone to remember. Number one, you have two minutes to get out of your home in case of a fire. And number two, in case of a fire, please reach out to the American Red Cross, wherever you are, it doesn't matter who you are, we will help you if you have been the victim of a home fire," Deborah Finlayson, with the American Red Cross, said.
Homes that received these installations are Lubbock residents who requested help.
Each April the American Red Cross seeks to highlight the importance of home fire prevention through the Sound the Alarm campaign during which the Red Cross and partners install more than 100,000 smoke alarms over three weeks For more information on the Sound the Alarm campaign, visit www.soundthealarm.org.
