National Weather Service surveyors inspected the damage Sunday. The path length is yet to be determined; max width was 50 yards. The tornado started around 5:39 and ended around 5:43. Advanced notice was given with a tornado warning issued more than half an hour earlier.

It crossed Business I-27 near Fence Road. A tractor trailer was overturned, a cell tower collapsed and damage to numerous outbuildings.

The rating may be adjusted based on additional radar data and spotter reports. NWS Lubbock and Plainview Emergency Management conducted the survey.

Another possible tornado was surveyed in southwest Hale County, near Cotton Center. Only an overturned center pivot was found, west of the town. Further inspection may be done once flooding recedes on non-paved roads. Right now they are not drivable.
