The current Featured Artist on "Good Day Lubbock" is Julie Raven with her watercolor piece called "Daydreaming Jaguar."

From the artist:

I received my BFA in Art Education in 2013 from Abilene Christian University. I started selling art in 2011 while still attending school, and have continued to pursue this while working in IT full time. I grew up in Abilene and moved to Lubbock in 2013, and struggled at first to get involved in the art community. Four years later, I have helped run and participate in several galleries with the Lubbock Artist Collective since last year in 2017. I am involved locally with Ladies’ Night, a night at Star Comics celebrating our local women artists, and have taken over full responsibility of hosting it, with our next event occurring in April. I also have created a successful Sketch Club, and help to run a Figure Drawing group and studio. I am currently working with others to create a Women Artists show in May where we will feature six female artists and host a live art event as well as feature their works. I am heavily involved with our local Comic Book Convention artists and participate in regular events to help promote my art, my fellow artists’ art, and the convention itself. Finally, I teach regular Watercolor workshops to reach out to the community and find new artists, who are then introduced to our regular gallery showings and events.
