Cassie Carlson joined the FOX34 News team in February 2018 as a sports reporter and anchor, and as a news reporter. She moved from Palatine, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

Cassie grew up playing competitive sports and when she decided not to continue in college, she knew she still wanted to be a part of the game. She graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. At Illinois, she was a team reporter for the Illinois Athletics Department as well as a sideline reporter, play-by-play announcer and color analyst for Big Ten StudentU broadcasts. She was a production assistant for Fighting Illini Productions where she produced feature stories and highlight videos, as well as hosted a weekly Illinois Athletics show, “The I”. Cassie also directed live 30-minute newscasts for the student run station, UI-7 News and interned at NBC Sports Chicago where she got to cover the Chicago Cubs during their 2016 World Series season.

Cassie has won awards for her reporting including the INBA Best TV Sports Package in Illinois and SPJ Mark of Excellence 1st place in Best TV Sports Reporting in Region 5 and a National Finalist for the SPJ Best TV Sports Reporting.

Prior to moving to Lubbock, Cassie freelanced in Charleston, South Carolina, for The Citadel where she was a play-by-play and color analyst for ESPN3. She then moved back to her college town, Champaign, Illinois and was the chief photographer at a local station.

Cassie is so excited to be in West Texas.
