The South Plains regional chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws celebrated 420 on Thursday.

Hub City NORML's Deputy Director Yvette Nichols said it's all about celebrating the positive benefits that cannabis offers and what it can do for the world.

The organization as a whole expects things to change for the legalization of marijuana during this legislative session.

"You know we have some great bills coming in session in June, so of course we have high hopes," Nichols said. "You know, we have a lot people backing us this time around that we didn't have before so we are hoping that changes things a little bit."

Nichols also said that its more about educating people and understanding the misconceptions of cannabis.
