Kamlesh Varma, MD

Kamlesh Varma had her undergraduate and graduate medical education at King George's Medical College, Lucknow which is a premier medical institution in India. At that time many women could not go to higher education due to cultural barriers. It was her mother who fought this barrier and sent her daughter for medical education. She had full residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology and obtained US equivalent Board Certification in this specialty. Afterwards she served as a faculty at another medical school in India before accompanying her husband to Boston, Mass. In Boston she worked as fellow at Harvard Medical School's Boston Lying- in, Peter Bent Brigham, and Massachusetts General Hospitals. Her fellowship was in Reproductive Endocrinology. Afterwards she joined lTUHSC School of Medicine as faculty in Obstetrics & Gynecology. At one long stretch of time she was the only faculty in the department. At this time her children were at the age who needed her more time and attention. Without any reservations she stepped down from there and joined Texas Tech Student Health Services to practice office Gynecology. After her children left for prep (boarding) schools she returned to practice after refreshing her skills by doing a year of residency at lTUHSC in Ob/Gyn. Since November 1991 she is in solo practice of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She has a clinical faculty appointment at lTUHSC School of Medicine. Currently she practices Ob/Gyn at University Medical Center. She has delivered more than 7000 babies. In addition she practices Gynecology as well.
