The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission conducting an undercover sting dubbed "Operation Bottoms Up".  TABC agents checked in on licensed liquor by the drink retailers across the state to ensure no brand substituted, misrepresented or counterfeit alcohol is served to consumers.

Since April agents have collected 153 samples of top shelf alcohol from 68 licensed retailers. Forty of those samples indicated substituted liquor had been misrepresented as a high-end brand. Fourteen of those retailers are now under administrative notices and investigations continue for seven others who also reportedly sold misrepresented alcohol.

A violator can face penalties including a fine and suspension of their liquor license.
