Lea, Eddy, Chavez and Roosevelt Counties in New Mexico have banned the retail sale and use of certain fireworks in their jurisdictions due to extreme drought and wildfire risks. Those counties include the towns of Hobbs, Roswell, Carlsbad and Portales.
A Sandoval County New Mexico Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Wednesday after images of child sexual abuse were found on the deputy’s devices, according to the New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas.
A community is in mourning tonight after a tragic crash in Andrews County that took the lives of six members of a university golf team and their coach. Two more students are in critical condition at Lubbock hospitals.
Nine people were killed in a crash Tuesday night when a van carrying members of a New Mexico university’s golf team crashed head-on with a pickup truck. It happened just after 8 p.m. Tuesday evening about nine miles from Andrews.
“Somebody knows who this serial bank robber is, and it’s time to contact us right now. Let’s put an end to this one-man crime wave before someone gets hurt,” said Special Agent in Charge Raul Bujanda of the Albuquerque FBI Division.
The 18-year-old woman accused of throwing her newborn baby in a dumpster behind a mall in Hobbs, New Mexico was in court Wednesday afternoon. A crowd gathered at the entrance of the courthouse with signs, one saying “Babies are a gift from God, not garbage,” and “Justice for Baby.”
