LOVINGTON, N.M. - Lovington police, with assistance from the Lea County Sheriff's Office, have arrested a fourth juvenile in connection with the Oct. 11, 2019 murder of Ryan Michael Beene, 18, of Lovington.

On Oct. 11, 2019, just after 7 p.m., Lovington police responded to the 1300 block of West Brian Urlacher to reports of a man who had been shot. The victim, Beene, was later pronounced dead at Nor-Lea Hospital. During an extensive investigation in which 22 search warrants were executed and dozens of people were interviewed, police said they learned a 17-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, a 15-year-old male, and a 13-year-old male conspired to rob the victim at his home. When Beene attempted to fight off his attackers, he was shot six times in his doorway.

The first three suspects were arrested throughout this year, and all remain in custody pending trial. Police said the fourth suspect, who is the alleged shooter and 13-years-old at the time, was arrested Friday, Oct. 23, and is being held at the Lea County Juvenile Detention Center. The four have been charged with crimes including felony murder, armed robbery, tampering with evidence, conspiracy, and accessory crimes.
