Students at the Texas Tech School of Music are preparing a concert and benefit gala to showcase their skills and help fund trips to present their research across the country.

The Lion King, which played The Buddy Holly Hall from October 6 – 15, entertained more than 25,000 theatergoers and set the record for the highest-grossing engagement in Lubbock theatrical history with a gross of $1.9 million.
Rodney Carrington is a multi-talented comedian, actor, singer and writer, playing sold-out shows around the world as one of the top 10 highest-grossing touring comedians for the past two decades.
“For me, being from Amarillo to come back home to West Texas, after this amazing year is sort of an indescribable, wonderful, and we will say, a Circle of Life moment,” says Hargrave.
Fans of ‘80s and ‘90s country can catch The Frontmen at Cactus Theater on Friday night, featuring hometown music legend Richie McDonald (formerly of Lonestar), Larry Stewart (the voice of Restless Heart) and Tim Rushlow (former lead singer of Little Texas).
This week-long songwriter’s retreat was created in 2019. Each day the artists break up into small groups to collaborate with mentors and work through the creative process of songwriting.
The Slaton Harvey House is hosting the first public exhibit of Steven Chapman’s photography, and all are invited to an opening reception this Saturday, August 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge to view the exhibit.

Rock legend, Alice Cooper, will be bringing his rock psychodrama to fans, both old and new, to The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on August 20, 2023.
The Sounds of West Texas will be presenting the annual “Tribute to Our Military” show and some show proceeds will benefit the Texas South Plains Honor Flight.
Fans remember him early on in Lonesome Dove and Northern Exposure. His career is still going strong with roles most recently in The Ranch, Yellowstone and Tulsa Kings.
