LBK case update 01-25

Five more people died from COVID-19 in Lubbock the city confirmed Monday. 655 total people have died from the virus since mid-March.

The Lubbock health department reported 93 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases to 2,170. City data shows the active case count has steadily dropped for the month of January.

321 more people have recovered from a confirmed case, with 46,329 total recoveries reported.

183 people are being treated in Lubbock hospital, with 54 patients in the ICU.

There are currently 19 staffed hospital beds available with 22 patients waiting for a bed.
Governor Abbott announced Monday a new Alternate Care Facility opened at the former Grace Medical Center with additional hospital beds, medical equipment, and medical personnel to assist with the region’s COVID-19 response.
The 22-county region's hospitalization rate remains above 15 percent, with economic restrictions still in place.
