LBK case update 01-27-21

Two more people died from COVID-19 in Lubbock the city confirmed Wednesday. 662 total people have died from the virus since mid-March.

The Lubbock health department reported 116 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases to 1,974. The last the number of active cases was under 2,000 was in early-October.

136 more people have recovered from a confirmed case, with 43,936 total recoveries reported.

169 people are being treated in Lubbock hospital, with 51 patients in the ICU.
There are currently 13 staffed hospital beds available with 23 patients waiting for a bed.
 
The 22-county region's hospitalization rate is about 15 percent. If the hospitalization rate remains below 15 percent for seven straight days, economic restrictions may be lifted under the governor's order.
