Jamarlo Phillips is an award-winning broadcast and multimedia journalist with over 8 years of experience. During his career, he has held titles that include multimedia journalist, investigative reporter, general assignment reporter, fill-in anchor, and producer.
Prior to relocating to Atlanta, Jamarlo worked at CBS47/FOX30 Action News Jax in Jacksonville, Florida as a general assignment/investigative reporter.
In Jacksonville, Jamarlo made a name for himself with breaking news, storm coverage, and extensively covering the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, exclusively interviewing family members, lawyers, celebrities, and community leaders.
Before moving to Jacksonville, Jamarlo worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WEAR in Pensacola, Florida. He earned a reputation for enterprise story-telling and wall-to-wall coverage during major hurricanes.
During his time at WBTW in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Jamarlo developed expertise in enterprise story-telling. He also covered several national stories including a mass shooting where a gunman killed nine people at a historic African American church in Charleston. Nearly a month later, he covered the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of the S.C. State House.
His career has gone full circle; starting at age 16 job shadowing journalists at a hometown station, WTVM in Columbus, Georgia; then interning there his senior year in college.
An Alabama native, Jamarlo graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Journalism from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, where he minored in leadership. Go Trojans!
Jamarlo currently holds memberships with the National Association of Black Journalists, Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Aside from bringing you the latest news, his true passion is the arts and working with children and young adults to help ensure they are on the right path to success.
Jamarlo enjoys the outdoors, music, traveling, meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, and catching up on the latest action/thriller/horror movies.
