UPDATE: The boil water notice for Littlefield was lifted on Friday evening. The city issued this notice a little before 6 p.m.:

On 03/16/2023, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Littlefield public water system, TX 1400003, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of March 17, 2023, 5:20 PM If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Terry Denton, Utilities Director at 301 XIT Drive, Littlefield, Texas 79339 or 806-385-9202

LITTLEFIELD, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) - Due to a large water main leak the water pressure to the City’s public water system dropped below the regulated standard, the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality has mandated that notice be sent out to all customers accessing the City of Littlefield’s water system to boil water prior to its consumption in order to ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria microbes, water used for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to its consumption.

Water must be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for at least 2 minutes. In lieu of boiling water, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from another source other than that of the City of Littlefield’s water system. The boil water notice will continue until further notice.
