LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Governor Abbott gave a power update at the State Operations Center in Austin Wednesday morning head of bitterly cold temperatures across the state.

The governor was joined by several state leaders including the CEO of ERCOT.

State leaders discussed the arctic blast that is going to impact just about all of the state.

Here locally, LP&L says Lubbock’s power grid is ready for the below freezing temperatures headed our way. The state’s power grid failure in Feb. 2021 led to the death of hundreds of Texans. But LP&L says a lot has changed since that storm.

“The question is, is it sectionalized and are you able to address it quickly and get folks back on and certainly here in Lubbock we feel like we are, and we’re not getting any indication from downstate that we need to be worried about at this point,” Matt Rose, spokesperson for LP&L, said.
