POST, Texas (KCBD) - Light Up Post kicks off 10 a.m. Saturday. The town newspaper, The Post Dispatch, recently published a supplemental guide to the upcoming Christmas celebration. Visitors can still grab a copy!

“You want the guide that we’ve put together: so you know what businesses to visit, what events are taking place,” said Julia Childs, editor & publisher of the Dispatch.

“You will want to know who has the best sales, and who all the shops on Main Street. They’re here and you can find them there. There’s a map that’s in the middle. It was drawn by Rhett Parker, our city manager. It has all of the places that you want to stop and visit.”

All the downtown shops will be open for gift-buying, along with some unique places to visit. Brokemeskin Designs opened up two months ago.

“Most of the industrial items that you see in here, they have made,” Childs said, “and it’s a wonderful place to shop, a great shopping place for Christmas. The ‘Light Up Post’ signs, the sponsorship signs, they’ve made all the signs for Light Up Post. They made the sponsorship signs, and made the big metal signs that you see coming in, and what a wonderful partner for Post! I mean, they’re supportive of the community, and we couldn’t ask for anything better”.

The main attraction to Light Up Post comes later in the evening.

“The climax is going to be the lighted Christmas parade at six o’clock. It is a tradition with us, and this year- it’s going to be better than it ever has been,” she said.

People can always fond memories, after they head out to Post this weekend.

“We want you to come. We want you to be a part of it. This community is a wonderful place to live. It’s a wonderful place to grow your family, and we are a growing community,” Childs said. “And you’ll always have a memory, there’s always a memory whether you’re visiting with a store- or coming in here to visit, it’s making memories with your family, with your friends.”
