Residents returning home after West Lubbock gas leak
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A cut gas line caused some evacuations in the Northridge neighborhood around 9:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of 7th Dr.
As of 1 p.m., the Lubbock Fire Department reports the scene is cleared and residents can return home.
Officials say two homes were evacuated after testing the air quality.
Officials with Atmos Energy say as of 4:40 p.m., the gas was secured and Atmos is on-site making repairs to the gas line. A repair crew is working to get gas restored to customers affected by the leak.
“We reiterate the importance of calling 811 before you dig and waiting the prescribed time for locates,” said Atmos Energy Manager Public Affairs Ed Espinoza in a news release Monday afternoon.
No details have been released about the cause of the cut gas line.
