Suspect seriously injured, shot by officers in South Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A suspect, who investigators say was armed and approaching officers, is in the hospital with serious injuries after being shot by Lubbock Police in the 2100 block of 67th Street on Wednesday evening.

Police tell us it started as a domestic disturbance call that came in at 7:12 p.m. from the 2100 block of 67th Street. Police pursued the suspect west across the city but broke off pursuit at 19th and the West Loop due to safety reasons.

Police received a second call at 7:36 p.m. about theft from a business in the 6600 block of Milwaukee and picked up pursuit of the same vehicle. This pursuit ended in the 2100 block of 67th Street.

Police say the armed suspect exited his vehicle and approached officers. Four officers then fired on the suspect, who was taken to UMC with serious injuries.

No officers or citizens were injured during the pursuit or when shots were fired.
