Red Raiders fall to Oklahoma at Big 12 Baseball Championship
ARLINGTON, Texas (KCBD) - Just like a week ago in Lubbock, Oklahoma’s bats were hot while the Red Raiders were cold as the Sooners won the winners bracket game 6-3 at Globe Life Field in the Big 12 Baseball Championship.
Oklahoma hit a 3 run homer off of Andrew Morris to go up 3-0 in the 2nd.
Morris gave up 6 homers to OU last Thursday.
He settled down to go 6.2 innings this time giving up five hits and three runs with eight strikeouts.
Dillon Carter sac fly plated a run to make it 3-1 in the third.
Oklahoma added three more in the seventh to pull away.
The Red Raider bats were quiet thanks to Sooners starting pitcher Jake Bennett. He allowed only two hits in 7.2 innings of work with 12 strikeouts.
Tech did get a two run homer in the 9th from Kurt Wilson.
A win tonight for Tech would have been the easy way with one more win putting them in the Sunday Championship game.
Now the Red Raiders will have to go to hard way. Tech plays Kansas State 7pm Friday in an elimination game.
They need to win just to get to Saturday where they would need to beat Oklahoma twice.
The Sooners have beat Tech in four of five games this year, including three different stadiums: Hodgetown in Amarillo, Dan Law Field in Lubbock and now Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Tech will go one game at a time starting 7pm tomorrow against Kansas State, a team they have beat four times this season.
