Surrounding departments called to help fight large grass fire near Highway 62/82 in Idalou

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Fire officials tell us a large grass fire in Idalou is now under control after multiple departments were called in to assist on Sunday afternoon.

Westbound traffic on Highway 62/82 in Idalou was pushed southbound on FM400 as crews fought the fire.

Idalou fire officials tell us about 25 acres of trees and brush have burned. Five structures were threatened but none were lost.

Idalou and Roosevelt Volunteer Fire Departments were called, with other surrounding departments called in to help, including Ralls, Slaton and the Texas A&M Forest Service. First call came in around 4 p.m.
