LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A suspect has surrendered to police after Lubbock police got a call about a suicidal subject walking into a wooded area with a firearm on 4th Street between Upland and Alcove on Saturday evening.

Police say the situation started around 7:45 p.m. and ended just before 10:30 p.m.

Officers responded with drones and were able to locate the person. SWAT and Negotiators responded to the scene. Negotiators established contact with the man and were able to convince him to surrender. He was then taken into custody.

The Lubbock Police Department, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety all responded.

No injuries were reported.
