LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Texas Tech and men’s basketball head coach Mark Adams are reportedly in discussion for a long-term extension of Adams’ contract, KCBD confirmed Thursday.

The extension will be for at least five years, according to reports from College Hoops Today.

Adams was hired as the head coach on April 6, 2021, shortly after former head coach Chris Beard departed to coach at the University of Texas. Adams was an assistant coach under Beard for several seasons.

Adams led the Red Raiders to an impressive 27 wins and a Sweet 16 bid in his first season as a Division I head coach. He was named the AP Big 12 Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year award.
