LUBBOCK, Texas (KJTV) - Covenant Children’s is partnering with TOVA Coffeehouse to help kids this summer.

The coffeehouse’s “cause drink” for May, June and July was created with kids in mind. The Champions for Children cream soda is more than a refreshing summer drink. It’s proceeds will support a vital cause in Lubbock.

“We are partnering with Covenant Children’s for a quarter so three months. You can come in and ask what our cause drink is and a dollar of that cause drink is going to go towards Covenant Children’s directly,” Kaileigh Wells, director of operations at TOVA Coffeehouse, said.

The coffeehouse always has a cause drink - this one running through July. Money raised through the Champions for Children Campaign will go towards upgrading and enhancing Covenant Children’s pediatric emergency.

“There’s a lot of patients that have very complex issues, They may have a real tough diagnosis and you know, they can’t pay out of pocket, probably, for everything they need. For all the services, all the treatment all the care that they need,” Emily Young, director of philanthropic initiatives at the Covenant Health Foundation, said.

For each cream soda bought in the months of June and July, a dollar goes straight to Covenant Children’s.

TOVA’s causes do change, so if customers go into the coffeehouse at any given time they can ask what the cause is. Wells said it’s all part of TOVA’s mission.

“TOVA was created and the idea, the concept of TOVA was never just to be a craft coffee shop. We love craft coffee we love serving it to people but the whole point was to have a business in the community that’s purpose was to pour money back into the community,” Wells said.

Much of that goal is met through poverty alleviation efforts, community efforts, community development and work with young adults aging out of foster care.

The fundraiser’s between TOVA and Covenant continues until the end of July.
