UPDATED: Four injured in major crash on MLK and Slaton Highway

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Update from the Lubbock Police Department: 

At 8:05 a.m. police responded to a report of a crash with injuries at 74th and MLK Blvd. 

A Ford F350 was southbound on MLK Blvd. and a Ford F150 was northbound. The driver of the F150 crossed left of center and drove head-on into the F350. 

The driver of the F150 suffered serious injuries and was taken to UMC by EMS. The driver of the F350 and two adult passengers suffered moderate injuries and were also taken to UMC by EMS.

 The LPD Major Crash Unit responded and is investigating the crash.


There has been a major crash. All lanes of Martin Luther King Boulevard are closed between East 74th Street and Eastbound road of East Slaton Highway. 

Three passengers involved in the accident were sent to the emergency room. The driver of the pictured green truck is in critical condition.

The closure is expected to last a couple hours. Lubbock Police Department is advising the public to avoid this area.
