We have a FOX34 Follow-Up on reports that Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen is targeting 10 House Republicans in next year's primaries.

Michael Quinn Sullivan of the conservative political group Empower Texans wrote last week that he met in June with Bonnen and Lubbock State Representative Dustin Burrows.

Sullivan reports the House Speaker offered House media credentials to Empower Texans' Texas Scorecard in 2021 "if we would lay off our criticism of the legislative session, not spend money from our affiliated PACs against certain Republicans, and—most shockingly—go after a list of other Republicans in the 2020 primary elections."

Sullivan then claims Bonnen left and Burrows read a list of targets. All 10 of them Republican representatives. This includes - Steven Allison, Trent Ashby, Ernest Bailes, Travis Clardy, Drew Darby, Kyle Kacal, Stan Lambert, John Raney, Phil Stephenson, and Tan Parker.

Earlier this week Bonnen issued a statement saying at no point during his conversation did he provide that list.

On Wednesday, Sullivan wrote a new entry. He says he recorded the June meeting and he may release the recording soon.

Sullivan writes that Bonnen and Burrows "must recant their false claims. All of them. Immediately. If they do not, I believe I will be obligated to release the recording—in whole or in part, I haven’t decided yet—so as to set straight the record they have tried to contort."

The Texas Tribune reports Bonnen has had no response to Wednesday's post.

Since the initial report, Burrows has not provided us or any other media outlets a comment. Bonnen's earlier statement said he asked the Lubbock Representative to stay quiet on the matter.

Addison Perry-Franks, a Democrat who has announced plans to challenge Burrows for District 83, has scheduled a news conference Monday to discuss the issue. Perry-Franks asks for Burrows to comment on Sullivan's reports.

The Lubbock County Republican Party issued the following statement Thursday afternoon:

The Lubbock County Republican Party declines to comment until the entire audio recording of the conversation has been released and Speaker Bonnen and Chairman Burrows have had sufficient time to respond to that release.
