Levelland to celebrate 58th annual Early Settlers Day

LEVELLAND, Texas -

 

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce will host the 58th annual Early Settlers Day Saturday, July 13, a celebration in July on the downtown square.

The Morning Rotary Pancake Breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m. in the corner of Ave. G and Houston St. 

Line-up for the Smith South Plains Ford and Lincoln Parade will start at 8:15 a.m., and the parade begins at 9:30 a.m.

Merchants will be offering specials for the day around the square. The kids' area will open at 11 a.m. 

Krestridge Funeral Home is sponsoring a tent honoring all early settlers on the east side of the courthouse lawn. Hockley County Senior Citizens' Association volunteers will serve as hosts and hostesses at the designated tent.

Starting at 11 a.m., there will be live music and entertainment in the gazebo, hosted by Texas Music Supply. The annual stick horse and turtle races, hosted by Hockley County 4-H, will be held at the north entrance of the courthouse. The stick horse race begins at 11:30 a.m., and the turtle race begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Senior Citizens Association will raffle its quilt at 1:30 p.m. at the gazebo. Activities taking place all day include: kids area, antique tractor display, food vendors, craft vendors and more.
