LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock is home to the largest-producing ice facility between Dallas and Denver.

It is owned by United Supermarkets, as it produces up to 200 tons of ice per day.

"The system we put in is state of the art on the technology they have in the ice business now. We've done a lot of enhancements to what we had in the past," United Supermarkets Director of Manufacturing Justin Sullivan said.

Sullivan said this facility was made to enhance the fundamental element of its ice: Quality.

In fact, he said there is a slogan that serves as a reminder of that.

"Quality is remembered long after the price has been forgotten. That's what we hang our hat on from a manufacturing standpoint because if you have a good experience, people don't say a whole lot, but if you have a bad experience, they say a lot," Sullivan said.

He said the quality and quantity of ice produced from this facility exemplifies their investment in the people of West Texas.

"People really like it when they get outside here in the summer. You don't have a refrigerator you can carry around with you so ice becomes a crucial element in those outdoor adventures," Sullivan said.
