Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization to host public forums

Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization to host public forums on proposed amendments, Loop 88

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization

Residents of Lubbock, Wolfforth and Lubbock county who live within the Metropolitan Area boundary are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed Transportation Improvement Plan regarding bus purchases. 

Residents are also encouraged to comment and review on the Metropolitan Transportation Plan regarding preliminary engineering for Loop 88.

Citizens can attend the following public forums:

  • Monday, July 8 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Downtown Citibus Transfer Center, 801 Broadway
  • Tuesday, July 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 916 Main Street, Suite 531 
  • Tuesday, July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Lubbock City Hall, 1625 13th Street, Room 103

Written comments will be taken from June 17 through July 22. The Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization has an extensive public participation process and provides a 10 to 30 day public comment period before taking action on plans and programs in order to encourage the public to be a part of the planning process as early as possible.

    A highly coordinated effort, from multiple law enforcement agencies, has led to arrests linked to the two overnight shootings that occurred on July 16, and July 17, 2019. These shootings resulted in several injuries and one death.
    Anti-gang investigators have arrested five men for two shootings they say were related. All five are 21 or younger.
