Lubbock-area cities to use aerial spray method to combat growing mosquito problem

LUBBOCK, Texas -

11 different cities surrounding Lubbock will use an aerial spray method to deal with the growing mosquito problem. 

Wolfforth City Manager Darrell Newsom said spraying has been rescheduled due to technical issues. Community leaders were hoping to spray all 11 cities by July 4, but has been postponed and will be sprayed at a later date. 

Cities that will be sprayed include: Ransom Canyon, Post, Guthrie, Crosbyton, Ralls, Idalou, Wolfforth, Smyer, Whiteface, Morton and Anton.

    A highly coordinated effort, from multiple law enforcement agencies, has led to arrests linked to the two overnight shootings that occurred on July 16, and July 17, 2019. These shootings resulted in several injuries and one death.
    Anti-gang investigators have arrested five men for two shootings they say were related. All five are 21 or younger.
