Tech Athletics: Forward Deshawn Corprew suspended from basketball team

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech Athletics said Monday forward Deshaw Corprew has been suspended from the team following TITLE IX accusations under the federal education code.

The athletics department released the following statement Monday evening: 

Once Coach Beard was made aware of Title IX allegations against Deshawn Corprew, the men’s basketball student-athlete was immediately suspended from all team activities, pending a full investigation. Further comment will be withheld until the appropriate time.


No further details have been released.

    A highly coordinated effort, from multiple law enforcement agencies, has led to arrests linked to the two overnight shootings that occurred on July 16, and July 17, 2019. These shootings resulted in several injuries and one death.
    Anti-gang investigators have arrested five men for two shootings they say were related. All five are 21 or younger.
