Typical summer temperatures with a few storms

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Pretty quiet week ahead for us across the area with near average highs and low storms chances.

TODAY: Mostly sunny with the high near 90, southeast wind returns and stays light 5-15mph. There may be isolated storms developing late in the afternoon and evening hours. Wide-spread coverage is not expected with the better chances to our eastern counties. If storms develop they will have the energy to become severe with large hail and damaging wind threats.

TONIGHT: Storm chances diminishes before midnight then a mostly clear sky, low near 65.

TUESDAY: High near 93, again likely to have some storms developing in the later afternoon and evening. Some models showing a better coverage of rain with a large cluster of storms.

EXTENDED: Temperatures stay near average with a ridge of high pressure building across the region. This ridge will lower the chance for storms though some storms might move in the area from the higher terrain from New Mexico.

Have a great Monday! Matt will keep you updated on storms and the latest forecast updates tonight on the News at Nine.
