Texas Tech defeats Arkansas to keep season alive, next faces Florida St.

The Red Raiders got revenge from last year and defeated Arkansas 5-4 to keep their national title hopes alive. 

The elimination game for the Red Raiders had a similar start to Saturday's 5-3 loss to Michigan- Tech was down early. Heston Kjerstad's homer in the bottom of the first put the Razorbacks on top 1-0. 

In the top of the 3rd, Arkansas added to it's lead. Casey Martin's triple followed by Matt Goodheart's infield single gave the Razorbacks a 3-0 lead. 

In the top of the fourth, Cameron Warren hit a two-run shot (18th) to score Josh Jung and cut the Red Raiders' deficit to one run. In the following inning Easton Murrell got some revenge on his former team. The former Razorback hit his first homer of the season to tie the game up at three. 

Future Texas Ranger Josh Jung was eager to add to the home run party in the 6th, hitting a leadoff dinger (15th) to give the Red Raiders a 4-3 lead.

 

After the first three innings, Caleb Kilian locked in. The Red Raider tossed seven innings, allowed six hits, three earned runs and had tied career-high with nine strikeouts. 

Arkansas responded in the seventh. Jack Kenley hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to tie the game back up at 4. John McMillon came in with runners at first and third and got Texas Tech out of the inning. 

Cody Masters was the hero for the Red Raiders in the eighth and hit his second career triple to score Cam Warren and put the Red Raiders back on top 5-4. 

After hitting the leadoff batter in the top of the ninth, Tim Tadlock brought in Taylor Floyd. The junior retired Taylor Ezell, Casey Martin and Matt Goodheart to win it.

The Red Raiders will play Florida State Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Seminoles lost to Michigan Monday evening.
