Nationally recognized summer STEM program offered in Lubbock-area schools

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A summer camp in Lubbock helps build skills in science, technology, engineering and math. Camp Invention is a STEM building program.

The program encourages kids to build confidence, leadership and problem solving skills. Its hands on activities and game modules give kids a chance to collaborate with one another.

"A lot of jobs right now, it's not that students or adults don't have skills, it's that they have a hard time working with others. So camp not only provides STEM skills, but gives them a great opportunity to practice those skills as far as working with other people," Camp Invention Director Jessica Ball said.

It's open to kids K through 6th grade. It'll run the rest of this week in the Frenship and Lubbock Cooper districts.

Lubbock ISD will host Camp Invention for a week in July.
