Tech baseball fans weather wind at Lubbock super regional, react to 8-6 win over OSU

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Like last season, Texas Tech baseball made strides in making it all the way to the College World Series. After Oklahoma State forced a third game in the Lubbock super regional, Tech managed to get the win by two runs.

Fans weathered the wind this weekend in support of the Red Raiders at Dan Law Field.

"We're here whether it's windy, sunny, whatever. We're prepared, we're there for them and they're going to get it done," one tailgater said.

Many say Tim Tadlock's coaching has led the team to success.

"Tadlock has things going the way he needs them to go. I think he's going to get the job done," another fan said.

Other supports believe while the game may not always go in Tech's favor, it's all in the players ability to focus.

Barbara Ramirez and her family have been tailgating for several years. She says it's a chance to bring people together and celebrate.

"We got the tailgate trailer three years ago," Ramirez said. "So it kind of attracts a lot of people. They come around, they want to see the trailer, we invite them to eat and drink and we make friends. It's a lot of fun and we're excited about the game."

She said she made the trip to Omaha last year and hopes to go back again.

"It's a great family atmosphere. It's not super expensive, it's very kid-oriented. And at the beginning of the week all the teams are involved," she said.

Win or lose, it's no surprise Tech fans bleed red and black for their Red Raiders. Now, they'll continue rooting for Tech as they head to Omaha for the College World Series.
