LPD: Investigators seek public’s help with murder investigation

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock Police Department

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in solving the murder of Cassie Oden, 37.

A $5,000 Crime Line reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

On June 2 at approximately 11:55 p.m., Lubbock police officers responded to a report of an injured woman near East 2nd Street and Zenith Ave. Officers located Oden with life threatening injuries inside a car parked outside a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight.

Officers were able to determine Oden was involved in a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of MLK Blvd.

Investigators determined a suspect fired multiple shots at the car occupied by Oden and three others. Oden and one of the passengers fled from the area and drove to the area of East 2nd and Zenith to call for help. The other two passengers including Preston Beadman, 24, got out of the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Beadman was then taken by a private vehicle to the hospital for a gunshot wound.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward up to $5,000.
