LUBBOCK, Texas -

A woman accused of arson has been indicted by a Lubbock grand jury.

According to a police report, Becklien Jarrett, 23, was smoking an unknown substance inside the U Lofts Apartment complex when she activated the sprinkler system.

Lubbock Fire rescue responded to the fire and began an investigation of the cause. Fire crews report there was smoke damage to the bedroom wall of the apartment. The police report indicates possible illegal drugs were inside the apartment and several bottles of butane.

According to LFR, the fire patterns inside the apartment indicated Jarrett was trying to synthesize marijuana by combining the leaves with butane. Through the investigation it appears that the butane produced enough heat to set off the sprinkler head.
