Texas Tech redshirt freshman John Scott III was released from University Medical Center (UMC) Saturday afternoon. He will continue his recovery under the direction of Texas Tech’s medical staff. Texas Tech would once again like to thank the first responders and hospital staff who have treated John over the past week.

Original story:

According to a police report, the argument started because Jackson was squirted with a water gun. Jackson got angry and began arguing with Texas Tech football player John Scott.

Witnesses told police they saw Jackson walk away for a few minutes and return, removing a pistol, "waving" it around and firing at Scott, striking him and Kiana Pipkins, 19.

Several witnesses identified Jackson as the shooter. Police were able to identify Jackson from the pool surveillance footage.

Scott's girlfriend told police she saw Jackson pull out a gun and fire at Scott and his friends.

On Sunday, police reported Jackson turned himself in. He had an outstanding arrest warrant for aggravated assault in connection to the shooting that sent two people to the hospital.
