Lubbock-Cooper hosts prom for special needs students across the South Plains

LUBBOCK, Texas -

About 250 special needs students from school districts across the region were given the royal treatment.

This year Lubbock-Cooper hosted the Region 17 Special Education Prom at the Texas Tech Museum. Students from Frenship, Seminole, Shallowater, Idalou, Slaton, Levelland and more enjoyed lunch and dancing. Students and volunteers said its was a great time to socialize.

"This prom is pretty awesome. I like it every year I come, it's a blast. Now Cooper's hosting it this year, it's going to be a good great prom. I like it, I like spending time with people, socializing. It's pretty fun," Lubbock-Cooper Senior Chandler Seib said.

More than 40 Lubbock-Cooper High School students volunteered at the event.
