LUBBOCK, Texas -

Wayland Baptist University recognized Marciano and Martha Morales at its annual Scholarship Gala for their support of the university.

The Morales family has been a strong supporter of Wayland and Lubbock through their business, Caprock Home Health, the largest Hispanic-owned health agency in Texas.

One of the foundation's main areas of focus is providing scholarships for young people to attend college.

"They are key components in higher education and they have the Caprock Foundation that they've helped give back to higher education in the form of scholarships," Bobby McCloud, Wayland Baptist Director of Development, said. "They're son JR got his MBA degree at our campus. And so, we couldn't think of a better couple to honor tonight that represents the latino community, but also represents higher education."

Marciano was key in bridging the gap between Lubbock's Hispanic businesses and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, which merged in 2008.
