SEAGRAVES, Texas -

Update

According to DPS, the Seagraves Police officer has been released from the hospital.

The suspect remains in the hospital in stable condition.

A Seagraves Police officer and a suspect are both hospitalized, as of last report, in Lubbock Tuesday morning. A traffic stop turned into a chase with shots fired.

Investigators say the officer stopped the vehicle around 9th Street and Avenue J in Seagraves, about 60 miles southwest of Lubbock. The driver tried to get away and fired shots at the officer, who returned fire. Both were hit.

UMC reports the officer is stable, in satisfactory condition. The suspect's wounds are more serious. Neither of their names have been released.

The hospital had to close its doors to visitors late Monday night because of so many people from Seagraves coming in.

FOX34's Megan Reyna was in Seagraves late Monday night, seen in this video:

We expect more information to be released Tuesday. When it is available, this story will be updated.
