Man arrested on felony following dog attack that killed 88-year-old

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock Police have arrested the owner of six dogs investigators say attacked an 88-year-old woman in her back yard February 27. Johnnie Garner later died in the hospital.

Courtney White, 47, is now booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center. He is charged with a second-degree felony of attack by dog.

Since this attack on East Colgate east of MLK Blvd, the Metro Special Crimes Unit has led the investigation. The case was handed to the District Attorney's Office Friday.

After the attack White surrendered the dogs to Lubbock Animal Services, which euthanized the six dogs.
