TxDot uses interactive game to warn spring breakers about drinking and driving

LUBBOCK, Texas -

TxDot visited the Texas Tech Campus to show students the dangers of drinking and driving. The Plan While You Can virtual reality experience gives students a look into the dangers of drunk driving.

Last year in Texas, there were more than 400 crashes involving young adults during spring break. Among those crashes, eleven victims were killed and dozens more were seriously injured.

"We know that alcohol related crashes are 100 percent preventable and that one fatality is tragic, and it's one too many," TxDot Public Information Officer Dianah Acencio said. "We know that we still have some work to do. And so, that's why were so happy to be at Texas Tech to educate young drivers and to reinforce that message, if you're going to have drinks then don't get behind the wheel."

The interactive game will visit 10 Texas cities throughout March in an effort to save lives and reduce crashes.
