Significant sales tax distribution increase in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Business has been good in Lubbock and across Texas.

Comptroller Glen Hegar's office will send nearly $712 million to local governments across the state this month. The allocations are based on sales made in January at businesses that report tax monthly. This figure is an increase of 6.1% over the same time last year.

Lubbock has an even more significant increase. This month's distribution of $5,437,947.40 is an increase of 9.28% over the March 2018 payment.

Year-to-date, Lubbock sales tax receipts total $18,800,733.35. This is an increase of 5.32% over the same period in 2018.
