LUBBOCK, Texas -

Plains Capital Bank hosted its 11th annual Economic Outlook Conference, giving a presentation on events and trends that shape Lubbock's economy.

Keynote speaker and economist Ray Perryman said while there have been some challenges this year, the long-term outlook for Lubbock looks brighter than ever.

"It's a very good place to be right now. There's a lot of opportunities out there right now and I would just encourage everyone to look past all the noise that takes place all the time and really look at the fundamentals, and things look pretty good right now," he said.

Perryman said oil and gas will continue to be a key source of Lubbock's growth. Despite chaos in Washington, he said Lubbock will continue to be on the fast track.
