Lubbock police say Jimmy Hewlett Jr., the pedestrian struck on Avenue Q Monday, died at the hospital earlier this afternoon.


At approximately 9:00 p.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a crash between a vehicle and pedestrian in the 2600 block of Ave Q. 

A 1999 Toyota Camry, driven by a 67-year-old female, was north bound in the 2600 block. The pedestrian, a 44-year-old male, was east bound across Ave Q. The pedestrian did not use the cross walk or yield the right of way to the vehicle and was struck.

The pedestrian was transported to UMC with life threatening injuries where he remains.
