MIAMI, Fla. – The Lady Raider Tennis team jumped back into the win column with a 4-0 sweep over FIU on Sunday.
With the win, Texas Tech improves to 4-3 on the season.
The Lady Raiders started the day by capturing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. No. 32 Kennedy Bridgforth and Lana Rush took a 6-2 victory on court two just before No. 40 Felicity Maltby and Nell Miller clinched the point with a 6-3 win on court one.
In singles play, Felicity Maltby gave the Lady Raiders a 2-0 advantage as she quickly defeated Kamila Umarova in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), only giving up two games the whole match. Maltby improved to 6-3 on the season.
Senior Lana Rush pushed the Lady Raiders ahead 3-0 with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 win on court six. With the win, Rush improves to 4-1 on the season.
Freshman Denise-Antonela Stoica clinched the match on court four after defeating Paulina Bakaite in straight sets (6-3, 6-0).
UP NEXT
The Lady Raiders return to the McLeod Tennis Center on Friday to host Tulane and New Mexico. Tech will face Tulane at 11 a.m. followed by a 5 p.m. start against New Mexico.
